Recent News in Brief:- "An Evening with Bill Heine". An evening with the local broad-caster at 8pm on Thursday 27th November in the Memorial Hall. Bill will sign copies of his new book "Heinstein of the Airwaves". All Welcome. Entry £5, including complementary refreshments. A "Big Breakfast" will be held on Saturday Morning, 29th November 2008 in the memorial hall, 9 - 1. All proceeds to the Weston Front. Two intrepid Weston villagers and WI members have taken on Daredevil activities to raise money for Cancer Research. Joan Davis and Helen Price ABSEILED down the JR Hospital.... Joan is also Housekeeper of the Village Hall and everyone is rightly proud of her, and Helen, and congratulate them on their feat of daring-do! They also raised a considerable sum for Cancer Research UK. ************************************************** The 15 locations short-listed for the first new towns in England in 40 years have been revealed by the government on 3rd April 2008. It included the site by Weston On The Green known as Weston Otmoor . This is very bad news for the long-term future of the village.
Some visual comments on the Parkridge proposal for an eco-town close to Weston on the Green.... * On Wednesday 23rd April in the Memorial Hall there was the third follow-up meeting of the Weston Front. Turn out was fantastic -- more than 200 people -- and the progress so far was outlined. Oxford County Council and District Council were both represented and expressed their opposition to the Weston Otmoor proposal.
